COLUMBIA, S.C. — Julia Kauffman is a Multi-Skilled Journalist and Weekend Anchor at WLTX-TV in Columbia, SC where she covers a range of topics as a general assignment reporter and State House correspondent.
Originally from the metropolitan area of Washington DC, Julia loves covering politics and legislation that directly affects the public.
She joined the News19 team in May 2020 and dove straight into coronavirus coverage to help keep the Midlands safe and informed.
Prior to joining WLTX, she worked in Charlotte, North Carolina with our sister station WCNC Charlotte.
While in Charlotte, Julia began her career as an Associate Producer for WCNC’s lifestyle talk show, Charlotte Today. However, she quickly added to her position as a frequent on-air guest, covering local lifestyle topics such as: festivals, events, new restaurants and retailers in Charlotte and more.
She had the desire to cover hard news, and was given the opportunity to report stories for the newsroom in addition to her Charlotte Today duties.
Julia graduated from George Mason University in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a Minor in Journalism. While in school, she interned for WJLA in Washington DC and worked part-time for USA Today’s Editorial Board as an intern.
Although she’s proud of where she comes from, Julia enjoys living in the South thanks to its beaches and warmer weather. She loves music and traveling. When she’s not at work you can find her checking out a new restaurant or exploring a nearby city.
You can connect with her on Twitter or email her story ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
