COLUMBIA, S.C. — Peyton Lewis is a Multi Skilled Journalist at WLTX in Columbia, SC working to tell community stories from across the Midlands.
She joined the team in February of 2022, after working at 41NBC in Macon, Georgia. While in Macon, Lewis covered everything from the 2020 election to heartwarming stories about dogs finding their “fur-ever” homes.
She grew up in the small town of Stockbridge, Georgia and always had dreams of becoming a reporter. After getting her first video camera for her eighth birthday, she never stopped recording and telling stories. While attending Woodland High School she joined the school news team called Pack-TV and fell in love with television news.
After a year of working for her high school news team, she decided to take a fast track for education and participate in her school's dual enrollment program. She graduated from Woodland High School in 2017 with her diploma and her Associates Degree in Communication from Gordon State College in Barnesville, Georgia.
She then went on to pursue her journalism degree at the University of Georgia with the Grady College of Journalism. While in school she became a technical manager and reporter for Grady Newsource, worked for the university’s news radio station, interned at our sister station 11 Alive in Atlanta, and met her now fiance, Tyler Head.
After working for two years in Macon, she came to WLTX excited to learn more about the Midlands and to help her new neighbors through her stories.
