COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sam Perez is a Multi-Skilled Journalist at WLTX-TV in Columbia, SC. Sam joined the team in July 2022.

Sam grew up in Lexington, KY. She eventually left the Bluegrass State and went to college at the University of Georgia where she studied journalism, Spanish, and New Media.

In college, Sam worked as a reporter for the university’s television show Grady Newsource, delivered news on the student radio program and wrote for the local newspaper The Red & Black.

During her four years in Athens, GA, she interned at CNN’s Southeast News Bureau, Spectrum News 13 in Orlando, FL, Seacrest Studios at Levine Children’s Hospital and worked as a Yarbrough Communications Fellow for Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She also wrote the book Deviate From Denial: Erasing the Stigma of Addiction and Recovery Through Inspirational Stories.

Sam’s passion for storytelling started in middle school when she joined the speech and debate team. She’s been pursuing broadcast journalism ever since.

In her free time, Sam enjoys trying out local restaurants, hiking, and getting to know the Midlands and the community that lives here.
