Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Four days before the Columbia Fireflies' opening day, churches from around the city will come together for a Night of Joy.
First Baptist Church of Columbia has teamed up with Brookland Baptist Church for this inaugural event. It will be on April 10 at the new Spirit Communications Park on Bull Street. Village Church and The New Laurel Street Missionary Baptist Church will also lend a hand.
The event will boast music from all congregations. The children's choirs from all four churches will combine for a special performance, followed by the Brookland Baptist Men's Choir, the Capital City Chorale and the Praise Band from Village Church.
After the trials of 2015, Night of Joy looks to be a celebration on the road to recovery.
"Our churches have a habit of coming together to glorify our Lord and Savior and we are looking forward to lifting our voices up to celebrate Jesus at the stadium on Bull Street,” said Dr. Wendell Estep, Pastor of First Baptist Church Columbia.
The event will be at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose stadium.
“We wanted to build a facility like Spirit Communications Park for this very reason. Our intent is for this facility to be utilized by the Columbia community far beyond playing baseball,” said Jason Freier, owner of the MiLB Franchise the Columbia Fireflies who will be playing at Spirit Communications Park.
The Fireflies opening day is April 14.
