Lee's Review: 'The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part'

"We can build anything we want here. But there's nothing we can't break!" -- Rex Dangervest

(WLTX) - Everything is empty in Bricksburg...but Emmet's spirit!  It's the one thing the Duplo invaders can't seem to destroy.

Since the events of 2014, we've had two spin-off films and a serious decline in population.  It seems that many of Bricksburg's citizens have been taken captive by the Systar System.  Now, this desolate landscape is fittingly referred to as Apocalypseburg.

But Emmet hasn't given up hope.  He wants to make everything awesome again!  However, he'd better work fast - because the Lego universe is on the brink of Ar-mom-ageddon!  And, in order to make things right, he'll have to toughen up.

Once again, the humor comes almost too quickly to catch.  But, this time, we're dealing with more inside jokes than original wisecracks.  The story also operates on a much more metaphorical level throughout.  Either way, a broad knowledge of pop culture and a second viewing of the previous film will enlighten your experience immensely.

For all the concerned parents, there's not much discretion to question.  Just some mild action and rude humor.

The Lego movies may be an acquired taste - but, for all the effort involved, it's quite worthy of a smiling Legomoji.  Head out and see how it stacks up for yourself!
