'Saved By the Bell' star Dustin Diamond suspected of violating parole

Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in the '90s television show Saved by the Bell and who was convicted in connection with a stabbing in Ozaukee County, has been jailed on suspicion of violating his probation.

The Ozaukee County Jail confirmed that Diamond was in custody there Thursday morning on a probation hold, but no other information was released.

His attorney, Thomas Alberti, when reached Thursday morning by email, had no information to provide.

In May 2015, Diamond, 39, was found guilty of two misdemeanors — carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct with a concealed weapon — in connection with the stabbing during a brawl at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington the previous Christmas evening.

He was cleared of the felony charge of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and sentenced to 120 days in jail and 15 months of probation.

Diamond and his fiancée, Amanda Schutz, 28, also were ordered to pay $1,501 in restitution to the victim, Casey Smet, plus more than $500 more for associated transportation costs for the prosecution's witnesses and court expenses. Schutz also was found guilty of disorderly conduct and fined $500.

Diamond won early release in mid-April by working in the Ozaukee County Jail's custodial program. Earlier this week, he gave his first post-jail interview to Extra host and fellow Saved By the Bell alumnus Mario Lopez, in which he said he was determined to put his troubles behind him.

"I want to put the tomfoolery and malarky behind me," he told Lopez. "It’s time for that clean slate, time for the change.”
