COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina woman is celebrating a birthday milestone that few ever get to see.

Lessie Miller-Dinkins of Columbia is about to turn 106 years old.  While her birthday is technically not until Tuesday, she and her family decided to celebrate a few days early Saturday.

The family gathered at the Golden Corral, which is one of her favorite restaurants. Lessie's granddaughter Christy says her favorite part about her grandmother is her wisdom.

"Wisdom. Shes a counselor," Christy says. "She can talk to you about anything. She was born in the 1910's so she has a lot of knowledge about a lot of things, so like when she can almost see when something is wrong when you walk in her house. Back in the day when she was living by herself, she could always fix anything by cooking for you."

Dinkins has a total of seven kids and 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grand children. The South Carolina native spent years working at Fort Jackson and the South Carolina State Hospital.
