Newberry, SC (WLTX)- If you look out the window of 1309 Main Street, you may expect to see a line of cabs and a bustling city.
"We think living downtown, perhaps above a store you own is a trend that is going to grow," said Barbara Miller.
Instead, you will find the quiet downtown of historic Newberry.
Barbara and Franklin Miller are hoping to bring the trend of renovating 2nd story space to Main Street.
"The second floor had not been used since the 1950's, it had been office space previously," said Barbara.
The couple spent a lot of money renovating the space they now call home. The city is hoping others will follow suit to boost business in the downtown area. Newberry Mayor Foster Senn says many of the exterior buildings are getting a facelift.
"A lot of them are taking part in the facade program, putting in new awnings and painting," said Senn.
Over the next few years, the Miller's are hoping to have neighbors who don't close up shop and head home at 5 P.M.
