Columbia, SC (WLTX) - There are 16 days until the first pitch is thrown at Spirit Communications park and the Fireflies wants to get your kids in the game.

The team and the YMCA of Columbia are coming together to help kids in our community. The partnership will allow more families to be able to take part in youth baseball at YMCAs across the Midlands with financial assistance from the YMCA.

The goal is to give kids a positive outlet, help them stay healthy and learn skills. They say their partnership is more than just a love of the game.

The youth baseball players will also receive jerseys and hats with the Fireflies logo.

The Fireflies will donate money to the YMCA, as well as send players to speak with kids.

Opening day is Thursday, April 14th against the Greenville Drive.

Tickets are still available here.
