500 acres around Columbia airport to be developed

Columbia Metropolitan Airport selects developer for multiple parcels of CAE property

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) has chosen Magnus Development Partners to develop nearly 500 acres of commercial and industrial property surrounding the airport.

The 16 parcels vary in size, configuration, zoning and proximity to CAE -- most have easy access to major thoroughfares such as Platt Springs Road, Edmund Hwy (SC-302), and Old Barnwell Road. Nearby I-26 and I-77 would provide easy access for transportation of goods and services.

Magnus will be working with CAE management to determine the best use for each parcel. Potential development opportunities include industrial, aviation, flex, hotel and commercial developments.

In a press release, CAE Executive Director Mike Gula said, "For decades, this has been the region’s most underutilized corridor. We look forward to working with Magnus to develop a strategic plan that will allow this submarket to flourish by attracting a broad range of new businesses."
