COLUMBIA, S.C. — Farmers and food processors in South Carolina pursuing organic certification may be eligible for reimbursement for certain allowable certification costs through a grant program administered through the SC Department of Agriculture (SCDA).

The Organic Certification Cost Share Program will help with eligible certification costs incurred between October 1, 2020, and September 30, 2021.

The deadline for organic operations to apply for reimbursement is December 10, 2021. The SCDA is authorized to provide reimbursements to certified organic operators for up to 50% of the operation’s total allowable certification costs, up to a maximum of $500 per certification scope: crops, livestock, wild crops, and handling (i.e., processing).

Farmers and food processors can download the form at the SCDA website.
