Choking hazards, high lead levels found in children's toys this year

The annual toy safety report has arrived, and it's worth reading -- especially if you're a parent.

Some toys being sold this holiday season could cause children to choke or expose them to lead concentrations above federal standards, according to new research.

The US Public Interest Research Group "Trouble in Toyland" offers safety guidelines for buying toys for small children. It also shows which toys that are already on store shelves pose potential safety hazards.

This year, its report even found data-collecting toys the group claims might violate privacy laws.

Some of the worrisome toys have small parts, balloons and magnets.

Experts are also raising red flags about slime, which -- if ingested -- can cause nausea, vomiting and long-term reproductive health issues.
