Richland Library Friends book sale returns, with changes

Popular event returns with COVID-19 safety precautions in place

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland Library Friends and Foundation (RLFF) announced the return of the popular book sales -- with some changes due to COVID-19.

What remains the same: great deals on nearly 40,000 books, CDs and DVDs Richland Library staff has gleaned from the stacks for sale. Paperbacks start at $1, hardback books start at $2.

  • private book sale for RLFF donors on September 16 and 17 who donate a minimum of $25 (donations can be made online, the day of the sale)
  • public book sale is scheduled for September 18 and 19.
  • book sales take place at the Richland Library Operations Center, 130 Lancewood Rd (off Bush River Road).

What's new: Because of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, new safety measures will be in place throughout the book sale event.

  • attendees for both the private and public book sales must register online for a 90-minute shopping shift
  • attendees must arrive within 20 minutes of their designated time slot or forfeit their time.
  • all individuals age 3 and older -- regardless of vaccination status -- should wear a face mask and practice social distancing inside the Richland Library Operations Center

The library will be accepting donations of "gently used" items for the sale events.
