COLUMBIA, S.C. — The City of Columbia Planning Commission will have a regularly scheduled meeting at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4. at Busby Community Center.

The public meeting's early draft agenda lists a review of site plans for three proposed housing communities that, if approved, would add a total of 280 new housing units throughout the city.

In order on the agenda are:

18.71 acres located in the 4900 block of Broad River Road, near Duck Grove Way. The two parcels owned by CW Haynes & Co. Inc. are located across from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and have access to Broad River Road via Duck Grove Way. The developer is requesting approval for the construction of a 187-lot attached single-family residential subdivision, listed as Hunters Grove Phases 5 and 6. SPLAT-2021-0086

14.4 acres at the southwest corner of Broad River Road and Piney Woods Road. The developer, Great Southern Homes, requests approval to construct a 74-lot cluster housing community. SPLAT-2021-0088. There is also a request before the Commission to make a Major Amendment to a Planned Development (PD) to allow for the 74 townhome units with 4.29 acres of open space.

16.2 acres at 750 and 754 S Beltline Blvd. and the 1400 block of Mikell Lane. The property has a small pond and is very near Gills Creek. The developer is requesting approval for a 19-lot cluster development of single-family homes within a 4.2-acre portion of the property that is not in a floodplain or contains wetlands. SPLAT-2021-0087

Also on the agenda is a request for approval of street names for Colonel's Creek housing subdivision under construction along Percival Road, between Clemson and Spears Creek roads across from Fort Jackson. Development of the 159-acre site was approved earlier this year and developers have submitted a list of preferred street names that include Artillery Lane, Barracks Road, Defend Court, Grenade Road, Infantry Lane, Battalion Road, National Honor Road, Half Mast Way, Field Strip Road, Paratrooper Lane, and Division Road.
