Four ways to make more money in 2020

This week on Money Monday, Steven Hughes from Know Money Inc. brings us four ways we can make more money in the new year.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The decade is coming to a close and everyone has either started planning for the new year or pushing to close out this year the way they want. Steven Hughes from Know Money Inc. talked to News19 This Morning and explained four ways to help you make 2020 a successful money year.

1. Purge for the Season
- Generate some income by purging your closet and house of things you don't wear or need. You can open an online boutique from your phone with apps like Etsy and Poshmark or make things even easier by posting on marketplaces like Facebook, Craigslist, OfferUp, and LetGo. Get rid of old electronics that you’ve recently upgraded or plan to upgrade at the end of the year and nostalgic toys or games.

2. Use Your Skills to Make Money
- Are you a great violin player or skilled at another instrument? Consider teaching younger students a few times a week at an hourly rate or start a youtube channel that will increase your credibility. You can also create an online course that will have a reach past your local clientele.

3. Become a Virtual Contractor
- With freelance websites like UpWork and Fiverr, opportunities to make extra money without picking up a part-time job are available for you, no matter your level of experience. You can monetize skills that you use daily for your full-time job like accounting, graphic design, document organization, customer service, etc.

4. Increase Your Full-Time Income
- Sixty percent of employers said they have not been asked for a raise. Side hustle income is a must, but don't leave money on the table at your full-time job. Arrange for a review that will increase your full-time income in 2020.
