Chain reaction crash kills one on Lexington highway

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A chain reaction crash involving three pickup trucks in Lexington has killed one person. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins the accident happened Friday a little before 6PM.   

A construction company was closing lanes on US178 E near Fogle Road and a flag man had traffic stopped. . 

A Ford pickup stopped, then a Chevrolet Colorado pickup also stopped for the flag man but a third truck, a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck didn't and crashed into the second truck, which then crashed into the first truck.    An unrestrained passenger in the second truck, the Chevrolet Colorado, was killed.  All other drivers were transported to local hospitals. 

The accident remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
