Shoppers rush to the stores for last minute buys on Christmas Eve

It was a beautiful day for last minute shopping in Columbia, and hundreds of people took advantage of it.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Many shoppers visited local stores for some last minute purchases ahead of the Christmas holiday.

"I'm glad the sun's out today," Richard Spragoe said, after shopping at a Harbison-area Best Buy.

Some shoppers there and at the Walmart nearby said they were grabbing their final gifts or getting items for cooking before Christmas.

"We came looking for some Air Pods," Robert Chestnut said.

"Had to get a bow for my wife's new car I got her," Don Brooks, another shopper, said.

Some were even able to cross everything off their lists.

"We're done. This is it; we're done," Jenny Mayo said.

"It feels good and actually the traffic has not been too bad on Christmas Eve," Edward Mayo said.

Many stores will close early for the holidays.

Those still planning to shop, should consider checking online or giving the store a call before visiting.
