Reward increased in killing of SC mom, 1-year-old son

Back on December 17, 26-year-old Mel’lisha Jackson and 1-year-old Elijah Jackson were shot and killed at their home.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — Federal agents are now offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to arrests in the killing of a South Carolina mother and her one-year-old child.

Back on December 17,  26-year-old Mel’lisha Jackson and 1-year-old Elijah Jackson were shot and killed at their home.

One suspect, 19-year-old Thomas Anthony Henderson, was arrested a few weeks later. But officers had said shortly after the crime that there were three wanted suspects.

A Ring video released by Aiken County deputies showed three people in hoodies and with masks walking onto the property. The suspects move offscreen, and then a barrage of gunfire can be heard.

The suspects then left the property.

Investigators say the victims were not the intended targets, and the crime is gang-related.

Now, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) are hoping to generate new leads with the $5,000 reward.

Those with information about the crime should contact ATF by phone at 888-ATF-TIPS, by email at ATFTips@atf.gov, online at atf.gov/contact/atf-tips, or through the ReportIt app.
