COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia police say a man accused of shooting at one of his friends during an argument has been arrested.

Officers say 30-year-old Javaris Hammonds Blanks turned himself into police Tuesday.

Officers say on April 12, Blanks got into an argument with an acquaintance as they were driving in the 400 block of Greystone Boulevard near the I-126 overpass.

As the victim got out of the vehicle to run to safety, officers say Blanks fired multiple rounds at him. No one was injured during the incident.

Police say a witness provided valuable information to CPD officers to aid the investigation.

Investigators say Blanks is charged with attempted murder.
