South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man who was hit and killed by a car while walking in the road.
The Lexington County Coroner's office says 52-year-old Willie Lee Simmons was struck around 10 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Boiling Springs Road and Bethany Church Road.
He was declared dead at the scene. The driver was not injured and stopped immediately.
The collision is still under investigation.
