A man is being accused of trying to bring marijuana into a Columbia prison.

Ronald Smalls Jr, was arrested March 23, Saturday, as he was going to visit an inmate at Broad River Road Correctional when he was stopped at the front gate to the facility after officers noticed  a smell of marijuana coming from the car.

A K9 was called and alerted on the drivers side door and the center console of the vehicle.

Officers say they found a small quantity of loose green, leafy plant like material believe to be marijuana.  When officers searched the trunk they found two glass mason jars with strong odor of marijuana inside, two digital scales and baggies.

Smalls was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
