Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police are searching for a man who they say got paid $75,000 to do construction work, but never actually did what he said he'd do.

Officers say they'll charge 51-year-old Toddrick Jay Jenkins with obtaining goods under false pretenses when they find him.

Police say back in early November, Jenkins told the victim he was licensed to build homes and asked for $75,000. The victim paid him in installments, but officers say he didn't do any of the agreed upon work, other than digging a hole in the backyard.

Investigators believe he mislead the victim because he knew he wouldn't be able to do the work.

The victim wound up having to pay a licensed contractor $30,000 to correct the damage to the land that officers say was caused by Jenkins incorrectly digging on the property.
