IRMO, S.C. — Columbia police have arrested two men in connection with the arson at the Walmart store on Harbison Boulevard earlier this week.

Steven D. Edwards and Bobby J. Murphy Jr. are charged with arson 2nd Degree. They're currently being held at the Lexington County jail.

Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says they received a call around 3:30 am. on April 16 of the fire.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming out of the front door. Investigators say the fire was in one of the aisles in the grocery section of the store.

He estimates around 25 employees and a few customers were inside at the time, but everyone was able to get out safely. 

No injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated at $3 million, with most of that being ruined merchandise, including a large amount of food. The store has since reopened.
