Drunk-driver rear-ends SUV, causes fatal crash on Highway 1, troopers say

Officers say the driver who caused the crash also left the scene, but officers were able to find him soon.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — State troopers say a drunk driver rear-ended a car in Kershaw County early Saturday morning, causing the other car to crash, killing the driver and injuring two other people.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on U.S. 1 and Malvern Hill Drive, which is near Camden.

Troopers say a Toyota SUV and a Chevy Tahoe were both traveling north on U.S. 1 when the Tahoe hit the back of the Toyota. The Toyota then ran off the road and hit a tree.

The driver of the SUV died. She's been identified by the Kershaw County Coroner's office as 38-year-old Maggie Ann Long of Bishopville. Two other people in the car were also injured and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Troopers say the driver, identified as 31-year-old Marlon Tramaine Williams, drove away from the scene, but was later located. He's now facing charges of felony DUI involving death, 2 counts of felony DUI involving great bodily injury, and one count of leaving the scene of a collision.

Williams was booked at the Kershaw County jail.
