COLUMBIA, S.C. — The all-clear has been issued and students at Hand Middle have returned to class after being evacuated Monday due to a suspicious odor.
The school was evacuated for about 45 minutes Monday afternoon as a precaution while emergency officials investigated reports of a "gaslike" odor, according Karen York with Richland School District One.
No evidence of a gas leak was found, and students and staff were cleared to go back inside the school after about 45 minutes, York said.
