COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Agriculture announced Commissioner Hugh Weathers has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to an official tweet, Weathers was tested for the virus on Monday, July 6, after experiencing mild symptoms.
According to a SCDA Communications Director Eva Moore, Weathers had not attended any public events in the last week.
Weathers has been serving as SCDA's Commissioner after winning election to the office in 2004.
