Walmart offering low-cost flu shots, free health screenings Saturday nationwide

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Walmart is hosting a free wellness event nationwide on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including at Midlands area stores.  

In a press release, the company said it's hosting the Wellness Day to help customers save money and live better in 2020 as the superstore chain is on a mission to help customers avoid the flu.  

The store will provide low-cost and free health services including: 

  • Low-cost flu shots and immunizations 
  • Free health screenings: total cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, BMI and vision (at locations with a vision center)
  • Giveaways 
  • Wellness demos

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), over 170 million doses of the flu shot have been distributed across the county as flu levels have been high and continue to increase.

Walmart has hosted its Wellness Day since 2014 and has provided free and low-cost health services to over 4.4 million customers.
