Irmo High's marching band needs your support

The Irmo High School Marching Band needs some sponsors for their meals for band camp.

IRMO, S.C. — The Irmo High School Bands are consistently recognized for their outstanding performances and accomplishments.

Each summer the marching band has a two week long camp with 12 hours days to prepare them for the upcoming year’s competitions.

“The band camp consists of taking a nine minute show that we take to competitions and putting about six weeks of practice into two, ultimately,“ Band Director Roger Simpson says.

With these 12 hour days, the camp needs to feed around 150 people.

“A lot of our students don’t have the ability to leave and come back quickly and we want to make sure they are getting dinner and we want to make sure we’re teaching them about that in addition to music and marching and those things we do during marching band camp," Simpson explains, "Its important we teach them proper nutrition and what’s good to eat, what’s not good to eat and we show them that through these meals.”

The band has had sponsors donate meals or money for meals in the past and are still looking for some donations for their camp that starts in about two weeks.
