Lee's Review: 'Serenity'

Plymouth Island is loaded with mysteries. But are the revelations worth waiting for?

(WLTX) - If you thought Serenity was some Firefly spacecraft, you were mistaken.  It's a fishing boat!  But nothing is really as it appears on Plymouth Island.

Baker Dill is the vessel's captain and he's obsessed with catching a wicked tuna named "Justice."  But he seems to have hit a bit of bad luck lately.  Will the sudden arrival of his ex-wife change things?

She has a little proposition that could earn him a cool ten million!  All he'd have to do is "accidentally" knock off her husband (who is a scumbag, by the way).  But doing what's right and doing what's best aren't always the same thing.

There's definitely a game underway - but who's playing who?  Perhaps the skinny man with the briefcase will have some answers.  But is Baker ready for them?  Is anyone?

Last week, I was frustratingly stuck in the surreal world of 'Glass' and then, after finally escaping, I got pulled right back into it again!  No, these two movies are not connected.  However, they do share a similar framework.  So all the Leemoji can do is shrug.

If you still plan to catch it, be prepared for bloody images, sexual content and language throughout.  In other words, leave the kids at home.  They don't really need this anyway.  And for that matter, neither do you.

I love mysteries.  But their quality lies entirely in the payoff.  So, don't bother climbing aboard 'Serenity.'  It should remain lost at sea.
