AUSTIN — (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN) Less than a year after opening in the Texas Hill Country, Family Business Beer Co. — the brewery owned by Jensen Ackles, the star of “Supernatural,” and his family — has a second location in the works in South Austin.
The upcoming St. Elmo Public Market, off South Congress Avenue and Saint Elmo Road just south of Ben White Boulevard, plans to open in 2019 as “the city’s first true artisan food retail marketplace,” according to a news release. There will be a variety of vendors offering coffee, local produce, meat, fish, ice cream and more, but the brewpub is likely to be the most anticipated arrival thanks to the high-profile CW celebrity at the helm of it.

Family Business Beer Co. opened in January of this year on Hamilton Pool Road as a destination brewery featuring beer recipes from former (512) Brewing head brewer Nate Seale, a bit of a star in his own right in the local beer industry. He will also oversee beer production at the second location, focusing on “small batch limited release beers, one-offs of our existing flagships, and we’ll be working on an exciting barrel program,” Gino Graul, the brewery’s general manager, said in the release.
