Columbia man pleads guilty to helping former USC student commit suicide

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Columbia man is facing life in prison after allegedly helping a woman commit suicide by selling her drugs.

Anthony James Edward Hunt, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the distribution of oxycodone resulting in death.

In January of 2016, Hunt sold drugs to a former University of South Carolina student who wanted take her own life — a fact he admitted to knowing at the time.

First, he sold her alprazolam tablets that reportedly didn't work. He went on to sell her several oxycodone pills, along with instructions on how to use them for suicide.
