Irmo, SC (WLTX) -- A group of women in the Midlands grabbed their bicycles and rode around town Sunday to celebrate International Cycling Day.
Cyclofemme organized the event at Outspokin Bicycles in Irmo for women in the midlands and all over the globe to take their bikes to the streets to empower one another through riding.
"For me it's very very spritual. I get out there the world is quiet and I'm moving through the air under my own power" says Marilyn Kay, one of the cyclists in Sunday's event. "What I've found with most of the women that I have met is at the root of what made this country. A sense of adventure a sense of independence and a strength that says don't give up."
