Cayce, SC (WLTX) - Two people are dead following a wrong way collision on Interstate 77 Monday morning.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. where I-26 and I-77 meet.
According to Lexington Coroner Margaret Fisher said that John L. McCravy, 79 of Columbia was traveling in the wrong direction on I-77 Northbound when he collided head-on with Ann-Marie S. Vargas Kincade, 42 of West Columbia. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. McCravy was transported to a local hospital where he died. Vargas-Kincade was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision remains under investigating by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
