Irmo, SC (WLTX) - Fans got a taste of what's coming this football season while out at the 2018 Joe Turbeville Football Jamboree at Irmo High School.
Ten teams showed off their skills during a pre-season scrimmage, giving fans a look at what they can expect for the next three months.
While this is merely a warm-up for teams, boosters with the Irmo Yellow Jacket Club says the Jamboree is their main event.
"This is where we make our money for the season to buy the student athletes uniforms, scholarships," says Karen Williams, vice president of the Irmo Yellow Jacket Club.
"It's a lot of preparation behind the scenes getting ready for all of the crowd and the energy in the air," says Camilla Mack-Whaley, who is over concessions. Whaley says 30 cases of bottled water was bought just for this night. They hope to sell out of all of their goods.
Friday night's jamboree was only the a sneak peek at the start of football season and fans can't wait for more.
