Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Construction for the removal of the bike lanes on Farrow Road is set to begin Tuesday, officials say.
City of Columbia manager, Teresa Wilson, said in a press release on Monday, that the bike lanes will be removed from Farrow Road.
“Based on a significant amount of feedback provided by residents from the communities in the area, a decision was made to move forward with a lane reversal and return that section of Farrow Road back to its original state," said Wilson in a statement. "We are taking this action in order to be responsive to our citizens and move forward based on information received during the recent public meetings.”
The city says the construction for the project may take from seven to ten days to complete. Weather could impact those plans.
The roads will be converted back to a four-lane highway with two lanes heading in both directions.
