22-year-old dies in four-car crash on US 1 in Lexington

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Rusty Wayne Shull ,Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lexington, SC (WLTX) — One person is dead, and others injured, after multiple cars crashed on US-1 in Lexington Thursday morning.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Rusty Wayne Shull ,Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

A car struck Shull's car on the 5100 block of Augusta Road/US-1 near Morgan Drive causing him to cross into eastbound lanes where two more cars crashed into him, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. A total of four cars were involved in the crash around 7:15 a.m.

Shull was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The drivers of the other vehicles were treated for non life-threatening injuries at a local hospital

The road remained closed for several hours, but was reopened around 12:15 p.m.
