A fire caused heavy damage to a building near Maxcy Gregg Park in Columbia.
The fire was at a structure located at 1600 Park Circle. That's off Blossom Street near Five Points, just before the entrance to the pool at the park. Firefighters refer to the building as a commercial club.
The fire was reported as being out around 11:42 a.m. Flames could be seen coming from the roof at one point. Responders were worried that the roof, which partially burned away, could collapse due to the damage.
There wasn't any one inside the building when crews arrived, according to Columbia fire.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
