A former Marlboro County Detention Center officer has been charged after officials say she had a relationship with an inmate and cut the father of her children.

Tramina Shada McLaurin, 24, is charged with public official misconduct in office and second-degree domestic violence, according to the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

According to an arrest warrant, McLaurin started a relationship with an inmate at Marlboro Detention Center in October of 2017 while she was employed as a corrections officer at the jail. Recorded telephone conversations indicate McLaurin continued the relationship with the inmate after the inmate was moved to another facility, warrants state.

In another incident, McLaurin is accused of assaulting the father of her two children by cutting him on his left side, requiring medical treatment at McLeod Health Cheraw's emergency room. Both of the couple's children were present when the incident took place, according to the warrant.
