(WLTX) - Giovanni Manzoni and his family are having trouble adjusting to life in Normandy. The water is brown, there's no peanut butter and certainly no cannolis. And when things don't go their way, they take care of it...the "family way." Thus, Gio beats the plumber to a bloody pulp, his wife blows up the local market and their kids exhibit similar maltreatment throughout their new school. Just another Tuesday for the Manzoni family!
But they're not in Brooklyn anymore. They're in Francethanks tothe Witness Protection Program - and their explosive actions might just be enough to get the attention of the wiseguys they ratted out years ago.
And, to make matters worse, Gio is in the process of creating hardcore evidence by typing up his memoirs! He claims it's therapeutic but Agent Stansfield is quite aware that his goal is to be published. Then again, not much gets by Agent Stansfield. He and Gio have become such "frenemies" over the years that he often chooses to ignore the family's violent outbursts.
Though it doesn't necessarily succeed, the movie appears to be trying to come across as a comedy. However, the tone shifts so quickly that anything remotely funny has no time to resonate. But, most of the time, it's just not funny at all. I suspect "The Family" will be sleeping with the fishes in a matter of weeks. Don't waste your time getting to know them.
