Newberry County, SC (WLTX) — One person was killed Sunday in a single vehicle accident in Newberry County, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Roger Baker, 47, of Greenville, Georgia died as a result of the single car accident, according to Newberry County coroner Laura Kneece. An autopsy has been ordered to determine cause of death.
Lance Cpl. Gary Miller with Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Jolly street, near Wedaman Road in Newberry County. Baker, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, was traveling west on Jolly Road when he left the right side of the road, hitting a road sign and then a tree, says Trooper Miller.
Baker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck, according to Miller. Baker was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, says Trooper Miller.
