Headstones, graves damaged in vandalism of Lexington cemetery, police say

Lexington police say a local cemetery was vandalized, and they are looking for the public's help to find out what happened.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington police say a local cemetery was vandalized, and they are looking for the public's help to find out what happened.

Headstones and grave sites were damaged at the AME New Bethel Church Cemetery recently, according to a tweet by the Lexington Police Department. The cemetery is located at 500 South Lake Drive in Lexington.

Photos appear to show moved headstones at a couple sites, with some suffering damage. However, police did not say if they are looking for a suspect, or when they believe the vandalism occurred.
