BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. — A former detention officer is facing a misconduct charge after allegedly injuring a restrained inmate.

Isaac Jerome Jackson, 56, is accused of pushing an inmate's head into a window and a cell door on March 15. According to a report, the officer "used unnecessary force," stating the inmate was "clearly restrained" in handcuffs at the time.

The inmate suffered a laceration to the head, and had to be treated at a local hospital.

Jackson was booked at the Bamberg County Detention Center and charged with misconduct in office.
