SUMTER, S.C. — A kitten is safe and sound — with all nine lives — thanks to a team of Sumter officers and a few helpful mechanics.
A woman was driving by when she noticed a kitten trapped inside a car's engine block Wednesday. She alerted officers, who arrived on scene ready to bring the kitten to safety.
Unfortunately, they weren't able to free the trapped kitten. So they decided on a different approach — a mechanic shop.
The officers escorted the car to a nearby Valvoline, where mechanics removed some parts, rescued the kitten, then reassembled everything. And they did it all for free!
But this kitten's luck didn't end there. A woman who had witnessed the rescue adopted the kitten then and there!
"Curiosity turned lucky for this furry friend," the Sumter Police Department said in a Facebook post.
