LIST: Schools and Businesses Early Dismissals, Closures Wednesday Due to Storms

Local schools and businesses are making the decision to dismiss early and/or close because of the threat of severe storms Wednesday. 

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Local schools and businesses are making the decision to dismiss early and/or close because of the threat of severe storms Wednesday.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND COLLEGES

Calhoun Calhoun County Public Schools will dismiss early. The two K-8 schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. The High School will dismiss at Noon.

Claflin University will close at noon.

Clarendon County School District 3

Walker Gamble Elementary will dismiss at 1 p.m.

East Clarendon Middle-High School will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

Columbia College will close at 11 a.m.

Denmark Technical College will close at 12:30 p.m.

Fairfield County School District has canceled school for Wednesday.

Kershaw County School District will dismiss early as follows:

ATEC and Elementary Schools: 11 a.m.

Middle Schools: 11:15 a.m.

High Schools at 11:30 a.m.

Three and four-year-old students in half-day programs will not attend.

School Offices and the District Office will close at 1:30 p.m.

Both breakfast and lunch will be served. The lunch menu will be changed to accommodate the early release. Students will be served pizzas or calzones with fruit and milk.

All after school and evening activities and programs including PEP, Boys and Girls Clubs, sports practices and events, adult education classes and the evening TABE test, meetings and other extracurricular activities are also canceled.

Lee County School District will dismiss students early. All elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. The Middle and High Schools will dismiss at Noon.

Lexington School District One will dismiss early tomorrow as follows:

Elementary Schools: 11 a.m.

Middle and High Schools: 12 p.m.

Early Lunch will be served.

Child Development Classes for 3-year-olds and 4-year-old kindergarten classes WILL NOT MEET.

Lexington School District Two announced they will dismiss high school and middle school students on at 11 a.m. The dismissal of elementary schools will begin at Noon.

They say high schools will not observe delayed start on Wednesday morning; high school students are to report to school in the morning at the regular day schedule time. Half-day students are not to report to school. All after-school and evening activities and events for elementary, middle and high schools on April 5 are canceled including after-school child care programs for elementary schools and all sports practices and events.

The district says If severe weather occurs before the early dismissal of students, the schools will shelter students in place. School district leaders will continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely. Any announcements will be made using the school district’s automated telephone system, the district website, social media and local media outlets.

Lexington School District Three will also release schools early as follows:

Batesburg-Leesville Primary: 10:30 a.m.

Batesburg-Leesville Elementary: 10:45 a.m.

Batesburg-Leesville High: 11:05 a.m.

Batesburg-Leesville Middle: 11:25 a.m.

Additionally, there will be no after school programs at Batesburg-Leesville Primary or Batesburg-Leesville Elementary and no athletic practices or games (both home and away) at Batesburg-Leesville Middle or Batesburg-Leesville High on Wednesday

Students at all District 3 schools will have the opportunity to receive a bag lunch to take with them as they leave school.

Lexington School District Four will operate on an early release schedule. An early lunch will be served. ALL after school activities, including athletics practices/games and after school day care are canceled tomorrow.

Students will be dismissed as follows:

Early Childhood Center: 10:45 a.m.

Sandhills Primary: 11 a.m.

Sandhills Elementary: 11 a.m.

Frances Mack Intermediate: 12:15 p.m.

Sandhills Middle School: 11:45 a.m.

Freshman Academy: 12 p.m.

Swansea High School: 12:15 p.m.

Lexington-Richland School District Five will dismiss early as follows:

CrossRoads Intermediate and Chapin Intermediate: 11:30 a.m.

Elementary Schools: 11:45 a.m.

Academy for Success: 12:20 p.m.

Spring Hill High School: 12:25 p.m.

Middle Schools and High Schools: 12:45 p.m.

All after school, adult education classes and evening activities have been canceled. Delayed openings (April 5) for middle and high schools also are canceled.

The School District of Newberry County will dismiss early, with elementary schools releasing at 11 a.m., followed by ,middle and high schools at 11:30 a.m. In order to get students, faculty, and staff home safely, NO LUNCHES will be served. All after school activities have been canceled as well.

Orangeburg Consolidated School District Three, Four, and Five schools will dismiss early, beginning at 11 a.m. For additional information about a specific school, parents should contact the Principal’s Office at that school.

Orangeburg - Calhoun Technical College, all classes canceled beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Richland School District One will dismiss students early as follows:

Elementary Schools: 11:30 a.m.

Middle Schools: 1 p.m.

High Schools: 12:15 p.m.

Breakfast and lunch will be served before students are dismissed.

In addition to the early school dismissals, the following Richland One programs and activities are canceled for Wednesday:

All after-school programs, including after-school child care, 21st Century, comprehensive remediation, SC Homework Center and athletics tutorial programs;

All athletics activities (games and practices);

PCD (preschool children with disabilities) Program afternoon sessions and the evening alternative program at Olympia Learning Center;

Richland One Evening High School Program classes; and

Richland One Adult Education classes.

Richland District Two will dismiss early as follows:

Middle Schools: 10:30 a.m.

Elementary Schools: 11:15 a.m.

High Schools: Noon (Wednesday is still a late start day for all high schools.)

All after school events and activities, including after school care, are canceled at all schools.

INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS

Belvedere Early Learning Center in Richland county will close at 11:30 a.m.

Cardinal Newman is on a black day late start and will dismiss at noon. No library, after care or after school activities. All sports are canceled.

Felton Laboratory Charter School, in Orangeburg will be closed all day on Wednesday

5 Star Academy Learning Center, in Lexington County will close at 12 p.m.

Gray Collegiate Academy, a charter school in West Columbia, will be closed all day on Wednesday.

Heathwood Hall will dismiss students and close campus at Noon. Lunch will not be served. Busses will run on adjusted schedule. No AE. No screenagers. Tech free day postponed.

Imagine Columbia Leadership Academy will dismiss K5 - 5th grade at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served.

Midlands STEM Institute will dismiss at 11:30 am. All after school programs are canceled.

VV Reid School will close at 12 p.m.

CHURCHES

Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin, no evening service.

Breath of Life Lutheran Church in Blythewood, no evening activities.

Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia. Noon bible study, 6 p.m. bible study, power hour, and scouting program canceled.

Grace Baptist Church in West Columbia, closing at noon and no evening activities.

Grace United Methodist Church in Columbia, all events are canceled.

Good Shepard Holiness Church, all activities canceled

Lexington Presbyterian Church, all activities canceled.

New Beginnings Baptist Church in Columbia, all bible studies are canceled.

Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gilbert, all evening activities are canceled.

Red Bank United Methodist Church in Lexington, all evening activities canceled.

Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, no evening activities.

St. John Lutheran Church in Lexington, all evening activities canceled.

OTHER

Babcock Center's Vocational and Day Supports in Richland and Lexington County will close at 12:45 p.m.

Calhoun Co. Disabilities and Special Needs Board will close at 12 p.m.

Genova Family Karate, all locations are closed.

LRADAC - Alcohol Abuse and Drug Treatment Center, Lexington and Richland locations closing at 3 p.m.

Move With The Mayor, event canceled.

Northlake Family Practice, closing at 1 p.m.

Orangeburg - Calhoun Cross County Connection bus services - purple/green downtown circular routes and campus loop will end at 12:30 p.m.

Richland County Recreation Commission in Columbia will be closing the afterschool program and cancelling athletic practice and events.

South Carolina Arts Foundation April Showers concert canceled and rescheduled for tomorrow.
