Richland County, SC (WLTX) - A Richland County man who had been reported missing has been found dead in Kershaw County.
Kershaw County Coroner David West said 60-year-old Garry Beasley's body was found inside his vehicle at arest stop on Interstate 20 eastbound Thursday afternoon.
West said Beasley was found in the back of his car with a washcloth in his hand. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning, but Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthew did say foul play is not suspected.
"He had been feeling real weak for the last few days, and he didn't have any energy or anything," West said. "But overall, he didn't have any scheduled heart problems."
Beasley's wife Julie said he was last seen Tuesday morning leaving his home on White Birch Circle in northeast Richland County.
Beasley told his family he was headed to work in Sumter for a work meeting, but over a day later, hadn't contacted them.
His wife told News19 his phone wasn't working, and he did not have the device with him at the time. His family said it was not like Beasley to go away for hours without checking in with them.
A search party that included family and friends went out Thursday afternoon looking for him. According to Matthews, it was some of those searchers who made the discovery.
Beasley was a husband of 38 years, father of two and grandfather to eight.
