Cayce, SC (WLTX) A mother and her 3-year-old son are dead after an early morning accident just outside of Cayce.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. David Jones, the accident occurred around 9:10 AM on Old Dunbar road just outside of the Cayce city limits.
A 2013 Nissan car driven by Ms. Mesia Alonda Johnson, 32, was driving eastbound on Old Dunbar road when she drove left of center and ran head on into a 2007 Freightliner Semi-truck according to troopers. .
Johnson,,who was wearing a seatbelt but was entrapped in the vehicle, died at the scene. Her 3-year-old son, Cavon Cannon was unrestrained in the vehicle and, was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation.
