Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) -- The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office is responding to a possible escape by several inmates at the county's jail.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said that just before 10 p.m., Orangeburg County Detention Center officers reported an attempted escape by multiple inmates.
Sheriff Ravenell said investigating are determining if any inmates made good on their escape.
The jail is located on Ellis Street. The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Tactical Unit and officers from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) were seen at the scene.
Deputies are questioning inmates that may have participated in the attempt.
