COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia is once again nominated as the best zoo in the nation.
USA TODAY's "10 Best Readers Choice 2019" has come up with a list of 20 nominees for the best zoo in the country, and Riverbanks made the list.
USA TODAY asked a panel of travel experts to nominate their favorite Association of Zoos and Aquarium accredited zoos. The zoos had to excel in the fields of animal care and enrichment, while also facilitating meaningful interactions between animals and human visitors.
You can now vote in favor of Riverbanks. As of April 12, Riverbanks was in seventh place, with the Cincinnati Zoo currently leading, so if you want to help South Carolina's zoo, now is your chance.
Vote once per day for your favorite until voting ends on Monday, April 22 at noon ET. The 10 winning zoos will be announced on Friday, May 3. You can vote by going to this website.
