Greer, SC (Greenville News) - Greer may be known as the home to power players in the auto industry, but a recent study says Greer has the worst drivers in the country.
A list of the 20 worst cities for drivers was released by insurify.com, an auto insurance quote website.
The study looked at 1.4 million car insurance shopper applications.
"Each shopper was asked whether any drivers on their policy application had been cited for a driving incident where they were at fault in the past seven years,' Insurify said.
Data scientists used those answers and census data to calculate the percentage of drivers in each city with a history of at-fault driving incidents.
Greer landed at no. 1 with 33.62 percent of drivers with an at-fault driving incident in the past seven years.
Insurify said Greer drivers are 103 percent more likely to receive a speeding ticket than the average driver, and 63 percent more likely to get into an at-fault accident than the average driver.
Jacksonville, North Carolina, was the only other Carolina city to land on the list, coming in at no. 13.
