The search for a woman who reportedly fell from the top of Lower Whitewater Falls in Oconee County will resume Monday morning.

Oconee County emergency crews were called about a fall on the Whitewater River in Northern Oconee County around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The caller reported a woman had fallen about 70 feet from the top of the falls while visiting with a group of four people.

Emergency crews, including technical rescuers and divers, searched for the woman until about 8:30 p.m. but were unable to find her.

In a release, Oconee County officials said limited access to the area, along with storms and high river levels are making the situation more complex and dangerous.

Lower Whitewater Falls is the last set of water falls on the Whitewater River leading into Lake Jocassee. Officials said the falls has a total drop of around 600 feet.

A command post for the search is set up at the Bad Creek Complex. Crews will resume searching at daylight.
